Background

India is faced with a paradoxical situation of unskilled youth and unqualified school drop outs who complain of "non-availability of jobs". On the other hand, industry laments skill shortage. The "India's Demographic Dividend" report brought out by CII and Boston Consulting Globe points out there will be a shortfall of 750,000 workforce in the next five years. The solution seems simple: To skill the vast unemployed or underemployed youth pool and link them to markets. The skilling should focus on rural, tribal and disabled youth from underprivileged families for India to have an inclusive society.
