Lulu Behmanshah | Quess Corp Limited (J. P. Morgan)

Lulu Behmanshah was only a year old she was adopted from an orphanage. She was found abandoned on the railway tracks with injuries that led to her locomotor impairment. Because she is a floorwalker she and her family faced many challenges regarding accessibility. Many schools refused to admit her because of her disability. As a result she missed out on a lot of education in her formative years. When she did manage to get into a school, she had to have a dedicated helper around to help her get in and out of the school van, get to class and so on.
Auto rickshaws were very insensitive towards her. They used to insist upon receiving payment in advance. And many times they used to drive off immediately upon receiving the advance payment. Years of ridicule and mistreatment resulted in Lulu becoming excessively conscious of her disability. Fearing further ridicule and mistreatment she dropped out after completing her 10th grade. She began learning computers at home eventually learning to type and to use MS Office.
Lulu is very independent and ambitious. She approached many companies for a job but despite her good communication skills and accessibility concerns, she was rejected in all the respective companies. And when she was able to get a job she found that the premises lacked working elevators and accessible toilets. On one occasion when she politely asked for a raise in her salary she was turned down and told "You won't get a raise as nobody else will hire you." Lulu left her a job did a course in fashion design after she was able to secure a sponsor for the course.
She learned about Youth4Jobs Foundation by connecting with the Founder-CEO, Ms. Meera Shenoy, at a conference. Through her reference she was enrolled into a short term training program in the Hyderabad Training Center. Her Resume was forwarded to several companies for interviews. While she was viewed favourably by the recruiters, she encountered problems regarding accessibility and was unable to join them. She was then interviewed at Quess Corp Limited for J. P. Morgan Chase as an Executive - Voice Processing. Her annual salary of just over Rs. 3 lakhs including traveling allowances. Lulu and her family are very happy with her perseverance and determination that led to her getting employment against all odds.
