Light as Hope
The Story behind the Shot:
Fran Álvarez, from Burgos, Spain, lives with Multiple Sclerosis and hearing loss and finds strength and purpose through photography. His photograph of a dragonfly in flight, captured with a Canon EOS 7D and Sigma 100–400mm lens, symbolizes resilience, freedom, and hope—qualities that mirror his own life. The shot required immense patience and focus, reflecting his philosophy of finding beauty in small, often unnoticed details. Dedicated to charity photography, Fran sees this challenge as a way to show that disability does not limit creativity or storytelling. He believes initiatives like the Global Ability Photography Challenge help amplify the voices of people with disabilities while inspiring society to see ability and artistry beyond barriers.
