Tata Motors & Youth4Jobs Boost Inclusion with ISL

Youth4Jobs (Y4J) partnered with Tata Motors to launch an Indian Sign Language (ISL) training program, engaging 56 employees. The session covered:

Basic greetings and workplace communication
Key ISL terminologies
Etiquette for interacting with Deaf employees

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive! Mr. Pranav, Head of HR, shared that learning ISL helped him reconnect with himself. Mr. Rohit Saroj, Deputy General Manager, praised the session’s impact on building an inclusive workplace.

Tata Motors Expands Opportunities for Deaf Candidates

Tata Motors is strengthening its commitment to hiring Sign Hearing Impaired (SHI) candidates. Beyond the existing apprenticeship program, the company is now:

🔹 Creating more roles for SHI employees
🔹 Enhancing ISL proficiency among the workforce
🔹 Conducting factory accessibility audits to improve inclusion

Advanced ISL Training & Workplace Accessibility Audit

After the initial session, Youth4Jobs conducted an advanced ISL workshop, focusing on:

ISL grammar and sentence structure
Deeper understanding of workplace communication
On-site factory visit for accessibility insights

This visit allowed the team to assess the work environment and ensure seamless communication for SHI employees.

What Tata Motors Says About This Initiative

“Tata Motors is deepening its inclusion and diversity agenda. Engaging with speech and hearing impaired individuals revealed our communication limitations. This training equipped us with basic skills to interact with persons with disabilities and reinforced our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We thank Youth4Jobs for being a partner in this journey.”
Mr. Rohit Saroj, CSR Deputy Manager, Tata Motors
