From Recovery to Reinvention: Arshad’s Journey to Barclays

At a young age, Mohammad Arshad Ahmed underwent two total hip replacement surgeries due to Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS). For most people, this would have meant stepping back from their goals. For Arshad, it became a test of resilience.

Coming from a farming family, he had always valued hard work and persistence. Even during recovery, he continued his education and stayed focused on building a career in technology.

He began his professional journey as a Guest Faculty member at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, where he taught Java, web development, and core computer science subjects. While this role helped him build confidence and communication skills, he wanted to move into industry and work on large-scale technology systems. With support from Youth4Jobs Foundation, Arshad accessed a job referral that helped him transition into the corporate sector. This marked a key turning point.

He went on to work in enterprise software engineering, building backend systems and gaining hands-on industry experience. Over time, he upskilled into artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on building intelligent, real-world applications. Today, Arshad works at Barclays as a Software Developer, with an annual salary of INR 15.7 LPA. He joined the organization on 5 February 2026.

In his current role, he works on enterprise AI solutions, developing systems that can understand language, automate processes, and support business decision-making. For Arshad, this journey reflects more than career growth. It is about rebuilding momentum after a major health challenge and moving into a space where he can create meaningful impact through technology.

His story shows that with persistence, continuous learning, and the right opportunities, it is possible to move from recovery to a high-growth career.
