Born and raised in Kannur, Kerala, Sravan Vinod’s life changed drastically when he was diagnosed with meningitis at the age of 13. The illness affected his spinal cord, limiting his mobility. Despite these challenges, he remained determined to build a career and find job opportunities that aligned with his skills.
Battling Health Challenges While Pursuing Education
In 12th grade, Sravan was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, causing severe swelling and additional complications. In June 2020, his condition worsened due to a cerebrospinal fluid leak, requiring surgery that left him bedridden. Physiotherapy helped him regain limited mobility, but he continued to rely on a wheelchair, making it difficult to secure jobs for persons with disabilities.
Upskilling for a Better Future
Despite these obstacles, Sravan never gave up on his career goals. He completed his Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and worked as a freelance content writer . Determined to gain in-demand job skills, he took online courses and, joined Youth4Jobs’ Full Stack Development (Java) training program.
As a standout trainee, Sravan showcased his technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to learning. However, securing a job for a person with a disability remained a challenge. Despite clearing multiple job interviews, many employers withdrew their offers due to his wheelchair dependency.
